Hannah: This morning I couldn't keep my eyes open, I was pretty tired! But, the Lord gave me strength, Amen! It was weird going to the orphanage as I had no expectations; it was a great experience and great to interact with the children. I had my first injury: a grazed knee but all is good. Had good pizza, and I must say, I am pretty excited I found out Moorlands is a very high possibility for Sept 2010!! Miss you Mills/Clements crew!
Nick: Put some finishing touches to the steps! They are done...I think. One of the boys in the orphanage decided I was fantastic, mainly because he kept breaking his bike and I could re-chain it. The orphanage was far better than we expected, the kids were great and played loads and the carers really seemed to care for them. Hopefully the second one will be the same.
On the down side I was thrown out of a shop in Brasov. We think it was because I was carrying the Parachute in a massive yellow bag, really! We're hoping to go to Brasov again for a guided tour by Sami, they have a Hollywood style sign on their mountain!
Paula: We had a busy day today. Woke up very early in the morning for our devotions, when Simon read to us about Jesus' crucifixion, including all the the gory details, from the book "God Stories" by Andrew Wilson. In it he details all the pain He went through, and it really touched my heart. Before I've never really thought about it, but thinking about it in depth was really touching. I advise everyone to read it as it reminds us how much He suffered for us. Then in the morning I led a larger team, as there was so much painting to do, but we still didn't finish! After lunch we went to an orphanage, where there were 10 children with mental illness. Here, although I know how some orphanages in Romania are, I was pleasantly surprised to see how well they were cared for. The children have manners and were well behaved and I really enjoyed playing with them although it was really tiring because of all the work we have been doing.
Matt: Roger, Simon B, Steve and I stayed at the church this afternoon for an impromptu extra work session on the roof, we're still hoping to finish before the kid's club starting next week. Hard work, but the adrenalin from the height, dubious-looking scaffolding and wasps kept us focused on the task at hand. That, and an awful lot of coffee! There's some carpentry, roofing and tiling to be done, and even simple tasks are made challenging due to the height we are working at and a lack of materials – I lost half an hour this morning whilst sharing an electrical socket for example, and when some of the other workmen on the site borrowed some of the scaffolding we had to work in a different way as we couldn't get to the part of the roof we would otherwise have been working on.
Simon: Thank you all for your prayers, we are all feeling so uplifted by the Lord. Please pray for us today (we missed posting this last night) as we visit another orphanage, this with up to 60 girls. Please also pray for Roger as his shoulder is really weak after the all hard work. It is also giving him grief today. We are having a chilling day tomorrow, then big services on Sunday. We'll be praying for you.
